I am 70 years old and was born in Northern Manitoba, Canada and spent the majority of my school years in Vancouver, B.C. I also lived in Toronto, Ontario for five years before relocating to Calgary, Alberta where I have lived for over thirty years.
In 1977 when I was 27 I began a career in distance running. Five years later I was introduced to the sport of triathlon and embraced it with a passion. In 1984, I became one of the first Canadians to complete Ironman Hawaii in Kona on the Big Island. My career in endurance sports would span thirty years. It included over 30 marathons, two 50-mile races, and over 100 10km races. I also spent two years as a skeleton/bobsled athlete.
MY WRITING CAREER
As my career wound down, I took up writing. My passion was to share what I had learned over the years about fitness, optimum diet, and the sporting events I loved. The books I wrote were titled Ironstruck…The Ironman Triathlon Journey, Ironstruck? 500 Ironman Triathlon Questions and Answers, When Running Is Not Enough, Triathlete In Transition, Lifestruck, Seniors On the Move, A Revised Updated Second Edition of Ironstruck…The Ironman Triathlon Journey.
My latest book is my first fiction titled Its Kona Calling. All my books are self-published and focus on motivation and inspiration.
THE GOAL OF MY WEBSITE
I feel I have been blessed to have led the active and exciting lifestyle I enjoyed. It seems a natural progression to help others accomplish their goals by sharing what I have learned over the years. Sure, it’s fun and exciting to win medals to put on your wall, but it means, even more, to help others realize their dreams and goals.
As a senior who has a wealth of knowledge about optimum diet and overall fitness, I would be remiss not to share it with others. My goal is to provide you with tips and suggestions that will aid you in having an active, healthy and productive way of life during the senior years.
